To detail

Discover one of Peru’s most breathtaking destinations, where you’ll hike through magical Andean landscapes that seem hand-painted. This 2-day, 1-night tour to Rainbow Mountain and the Red Valley, located in the Vilcanota mountain range in the Cusco region, offers a leisurely experience (thanks to an overnight camping trip) where you can enjoy privileged views of the imposing Apu Ausangate (6,372 meters/20,905 feet), the highest mountain in the Cusco region and one of the most sacred in the Peruvian Andes.

Our tour begins with a transfer from your hotel in Cusco to the Village of Quesiuno, the starting point of the hike (we will make a brief stop at Abra Puka to recharge). The trek covers approximately 11 km and takes 6 to 7 hours, crossing high mountain passes such as Abra Warmisaya (4,985 meters/16,355 feet), with spectacular panoramic views of lagoons and mountains. The trek culminates at the Surinecocha campsite at 4,800 meters (15,748 feet), where you will spend the night in the mountains, enjoying a hot dinner and breathtaking starry skies thanks to the purity of the air at high altitude.

The following day begins before dawn to arrive early at the famous Rainbow Mountain or Vinicunca (5,100 meters/16,732 feet), the highest point of our Day 2 trek, located in the Pitumarca District of the Canchis Province. Its colors are due to the natural concentration of minerals that form red, ochre, green, and yellow bands. Next, we will visit the breathtaking Red Valley (5,050 meters above sea level/16,568 feet), a surreal landscape that many consider even more stunning than the mountain itself. Finally, after the visits, we will begin our return hike to meet our transport, which will take us to the Village of Cusipata. There, we will enjoy a hearty lunch before departing for your accommodation in the city of Cusco.
