To detail
The first day will start with a Full Day to Rocotuyoc Lake and the frozen lake, traveling north through the Callejón de Huaylas with a stop in Marcará to coordinate lunch. After entering Huascarán National Park, you will arrive at Rocotuyoc Lake at 4,500 meters (14,764 feet) of altitude, through an easily accessible ramp. From there, you can take a 45-minute walk (or go by local boat – optional, not included) to see the mysterious frozen lake, enjoying views of the snow-capped Paccharaju, Vallunaraju, and Copa mountains.
 
The second day will take you to explore the spectacular Parón Lake, the largest freshwater reservoir in the Cordillera Blanca, making a stop in Caraz to enjoy its traditional sweets. You will ascend along a panoramic road to reach the lake, where you will have free time to walk along its turquoise shore in front of the snow-capped Artesonraju mountain, or climb for 40 minutes (optional) along a rocky path to its elevated viewpoint to obtain an unparalleled panoramic view of the entire surroundings.
 
The third day you will experience an excursion to the Pastoruri Glacier, a very accessible destination where you will discover the Climate Change Route and you will be able to observe the retreat of the glacier. During the journey through the Carpa sector, you will visit Pumapashimi Lake and the forest of Puyas Raymondi, emblematic plants that take a century to bloom, finally you will arrive at 4,800 meters (15,748 feet) of altitude at the base of the snow-capped mountain on foot or by horse (optional, not included), here you will be able to observe the imposing ice walls and obtain impressive views of the mountain range.
 
The fourth day we will have the trekking to Lake 69, starting with a brief photographic stop in the turquoise waters of Chinancocha Lake in the Llanganuco Gorge, once at the Cebollapampa base camp (located at 3,850 meters/12,631 feet) of altitude, we will undertake a demanding steady ascent of 3 hours surrounded by local wildlife, until conquering the 4,650 meters (15,256 feet) of altitude of this glacial gem, a brilliant blue water mirror located under the imposing Chacraraju and Pisco peaks.
 
The fifth day you will have a free day of rest in the city of Huaraz, with no activities scheduled in the itinerary. This day is essential to recover strength after the previous walks and achieve acclimatization for the high mountain challenge that awaits you the next day.
 
The sixth day you will have a demanding high mountain trekking to Nevado Mateo, traveling through the Ulta Gorge in front of the snow-capped Chopicalqui mountain. After crossing the emblematic tunnel of the Punta Olímpica at 4,736 meters (15,538 feet) of altitude, you will start a walk on rock and glacial ice equipped with technical material and accompanied by a certified mountain guide, reaching the summit of Nevado Mateo to enjoy a 360-degree natural viewpoint towards the most spectacular mountains and lakes of the Cordillera Blanca.

Day 1ARRIVAL IN HUARAZ, FULL DAY TO ROCOTUYOC LAKE AND ITS FROZEN LAKE

  • 08:10: Pick up of passengers at the bus station/aeropuerto and transfer to the hotel to drop off luggage (recommended time).
  • 08:30: Pick up of passengers to start the Full Day.
  • 09:30: Our first stop will be in the town of Marcará for breakfast (not included) and to coordinate the lunch reservation (not included).
  • 10:00: Continuing along the route, the detour towards the Paqcharuri Gorge will be taken.
  • 11:00: Brief stop to admire the Paqcharuri Waterfall and its extensive forest of native vegetation. The route will continue towards Rocotuyoc Lake.
  • 12:00: Entrance to Huascarán National Park and visit to Rocotuyoc Lake.
  • 13:00: After a walk of between 30 to 45 minutes, you will arrive at the frozen lake. During the journey, you will be able to appreciate the snow-capped Paccharaju, Vallunaraju, and Copa mountains.
  • 15:30: Departure to the town of Marcará for lunch.
  • 16:30: Return to the city of Huaraz.
  • 18:30: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations and free night for the overnight stay.

Day 2FULL DAY TO PARÓN LAKE

  • 07:45: Pick up of passengers to start the Full Day.
  • 08:30: Stop in the Town of Caraz to visit its main square and buy provisions for the road.
  • 10:00: Arrival at Parón Lake and start of the Trekking to the Viewpoint.
  • 10:45: Arrival at the Viewpoint, where you will have free time to take photos, from here we will have a view of the snow-capped Huandoy, Pisco, Pirámide de Garcilaso, Artesonraju (Paramount) mountains and the Esfinge (called the great Andean wall).
  • 11:30: Trekking back to Parón Lake, free time for Kayak rides, boat rides (approximate cost S/ 30 soles or US$9 per activity, not included).
  • 13:00: Lunch at a Tourist Restaurant (not included).
  • 14:00: Return to the city of Huaraz.
  • 18:00: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations and free afternoon/night for the overnight stay.

Day 3FULL DAY TO PASTORURI GLACIER

  • 07:00: Breakfast at the Hotel.
  • 08:30: Pick up of passengers to start the Full Day.
  • 09:30: Small stop to buy snacks and reserve lunch (not included). The tour will continue towards Patococha Lake.
  • 11:00: Quick stop to visit Patococha Lake (where there are more than 20 types of ducks). The route will continue towards the Puyas de Raymondi.
  • 12:00: Visit to the carbonated water spring, the colorful water eye and observe the life cycle of the Puyas de Raymondi. The tour will continue towards the Pastoruri Glacier.
  • 12:30: Arrival at the Pastoruri Glacier area and start of the Trekking.
  • 13:30: Beginning of the trekking back to the vehicles to start the trip to the restaurant where you will have lunch (not included).
  • 14:30: Lunch at the Tourist Restaurant and return to the city of Huaraz.
  • 17:30: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations and free night for the overnight stay.

Day 4FULL DAY TO LAKE 69 + LLANGANUCO LAKE

  • 05:00: Pick up of passengers to start the Full Day. Do not forget to bring a snack (Box lunch not included) for lunch, as there will be no stop at any restaurant for it.
  • 07:40: Arrival in the city of Yungay where you will have time to have your box lunch breakfast (included).
  • 08:30: Entrance to Huascarán National Park. Visit to the Llanganuco Gorge and Chinancocha Lake, where you will have free time to capture photographs, to then continue with the trip finally passing by Horconcocha Lake.
  • 09:00: Arrival at Cebollapampa (base camp and starting point of the trekking) and start of the ascent to Lake 69.
  • 12:00: Arrival at Lake 69, free time to admire the landscape and consume your box lunch lunch (not included).
  • 13:00: Start of the descent and return to the vehicle that will wait for you in Cebollapampa, free time to wait for all the participants of the group.
  • 14:00: Departure from Cebollapampa for the return to Huaraz.
  • 18:30: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations and free night for the overnight stay.

Day 5FREE DAY

  • 08:00: Breakfast at the Hotel and free day. Contact us! We have several alternatives of activities to do in Huaraz Puno such as: City tour, Full Day to the City of Yungay or to the Chavín de Huántar Complex among others.

Day 6TREKKING DAY TO NEVADO MATEO

  • 03:00: Start of the trip from Huaraz. Pick up of passengers from their accommodations to head to Huascarán National Park.
  • 04:00: Stop in Carhuaz. Time to enjoy a breakfast (do not forget to request a box lunch at the hotel) before continuing along the CarhuazChacas route.
  • 05:30: Arrival at Punta Olímpica. Preparation of technical equipment (crampons, ice axe, harness) and safety briefing as dawn breaks on the mountain.
  • 06:00: Start of the trekking and ascent through the rocks area and the glacier towards the summit of Nevado Mateo (requires previous experience in hiking).
  • 09:30: Arrival at the summit. Free time for photos and panoramic views of Huascarán, Chopicalqui and nearby lakes.
  • 10:30: Start of the descent back towards the transport.
  • 13:30: Return to the vehicle. Time to have lunch (not included) and change clothes before starting the return trip.
  • 15:30: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations and free afternoon/night for the overnight stay.

What is the best time of year to visit Ancash?

We recommend visiting the city of Anacash between April and September, as these are the months when the weather is clearest, allowing you to enjoy trekking and hiking activities more comfortably and safely.

What important details should I know about this package?

The tours are offered in a private service, that is to say, both the transportation capacity and the guiding service are solely and exclusively for the passengers who take this package, with the exception of the following tours, which are detailed below:
 
– RROCOTUYOC LAKE AND ITS FROZEN LAKE, PARÓN LAKE, PASTORURI GLACIER, LAKE 69 + LLANGANUCO LAKE AND TREKKING DAY TO NEVADO MATEO: The seats in the vehicle will be occupied according to the order of arrival, and you must return in the same seat in which you traveled when the tour started. In order to comply with the itinerary, you are requested to be very attentive at the time of boarding, to be able to comply with the departure and return schedule.

How long in advance can I make a reservation?

At least 10 days before the scheduled travel date and/or subject to seat availability. If you’re from a neighboring country or anywhere else in the world, we recommend booking at least 20 days in advance, or two month if the date you arrive is high season in Ancash.

Do I have to carry an identity document during the package?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid ID, Immigration Card or Passport during the Package.
