Our tour begins very early in the morning, with pick up from your accommodation (just remember that your hotel must be near the Historic Center of Cusco). We’ll start by visiting the artisan centers of Chinchero, where we’ll see a demonstration of natural dyeing techniques. Then we’ll visit Moray and the Maras Salt Mines, world-renowned for the medicinal properties of the salt extracted there. After midday, we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant in the town of Urubamba, and we’ll conclude our visits with a tour of the Ollantaytambo Archaeological Park.
After this final tour in the Sacred Valley, you’ll have two hours of free time to explore this well-known “last living Inca town”, where you can wander through its impressive artisan market, until your private transfer picks you up. This will take you to the Ollantaytambo train station, where we’ll board the train to our final destination of the day: the town of Aguas Calientes, also known as the lower town of Machu Picchu.
Upon arrival at the Aguas Calientes train station, staff from your accommodation will escort you to your hotel so you can settle in and then enjoy the magical town of Aguas Calientes.
On the second day of our package, we will take the tour to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary, according to the pre-arranged entrance time to the Citadel (generally at the passenger’s discretion and subject to ticket availability; we suggest visiting between 6:00 and 10:00 AM). Remember that you can also choose between a shared or private guided tour of the Citadel. Afterward, we will board the CONSETTUR Tourist Bus to Machu Picchu Mountain.
Once inside the Sanctuary, we will explore the entire Llacta (also known as the Inca city). This guided tour will last approximately two hours, allowing you time to take the best photos of this wonderful day. Afterward, we will return to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will have lunch at our buffet restaurant. You will have some free time if you forgot to buy a souvenir; the artisan market is located just on the way to the train station. All that would remain is to wait for our return train to the city of Cusco at the indicated time and subsequent transfers to your accommodation.
Here we give you the option to choose how you want to end the itinerary of your DAY 1:
OPTION 1:
OPTION 2:
*The Itinerary may vary depending on train availability and time of year.
(*) If you choose the return option with PeruRail’s Vistadome Observatory train, please note the following schedule: 15:20 train departure from Machu Picchu, 17:15 transfer to a bus in Ollantaytambo, and arrival in Cusco at 19:30.
Cusco can be visited throughout the year, but if you want to travel during the best time, we recommend going between the months of April to October, as the probability of rain during those months is low, making the mountains look more majestic and with lots of sunshine.
