Distance from Lima to Jaén by plane: 1 hour and 25 minutes flight.
Distance from Jaén to Cocachimba by Van: 4 hours.
Maximum altitude in Cocachimba: 1800 meters (5905 feet).
IMPORTANT: Not suitable for people with mobility limitations.
Climate in Cocachimba: Maximum temperature during the day 21 ºC (69.8 ºF). Minimum temperature at night 14 ºC (57.2 ºF).
Low season: December to April (rainy season).
High season: May to November (Cocachimba Anniversary: October 18).

Day 1ARRIVAL AT THE GOCTA LODGE AND OVERNIGHT STAY

10:55: Arrival at Jaén Airport, Cajamarca, and transfer to the hotel (recommended time).
14:50: Arrival at Gocta Lodge.
15:00: Check-in at the hotel and free afternoon to enjoy its facilities.

Day 2TOUR TO GOCTA FALLS

07:30: Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
08:30: Hike to Gocta Falls from Andes Lodge.
15:00: Lunch and free afternoon at the lodge’s pool and gardens.

Day 3FULL DAY TOUR TO THE FORTIFIED CITADEL OF KUÉLAP WITH CABLE CAR

07:30: Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
08:30: Pick-up from the hotel to the town of Nuevo Tingo (departure point for the cable car to Kuélap).
09:30: Arrival at the Kuélap cable cars and boarding for the Fortress.
10:00: Start of the hike at the Kuélap Fortress.
13:00: Descent by cable car.
13:30: Return to Nuevo Tingo, lunch, and free time.
16:00: Return to the hotel and free afternoon.

Day 4TOUR TO THE KARAJÍA SARCOPHAGI AND QUIOCTA CAVES

07:30: Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
08:30: Pick-up from the hotel to the village of Cruzpata.
09:30: Start of the hike to the Karajía Viewpoint. Binoculars are recommended. (Horseback riding is optional).
11:30: Hike back to the vehicle for the Quiocta Cave.
13:00: Lunch in the village of Luya.
14:00: Return to the hotel and free afternoon.
20:00: Dinner and overnight stay at Gocta Lodge.

Day 5VISIT TO THE COLIBRI REFUGE AND RETURN TO JAÉN

FAQs

What recommendations would you give us if it is our first time traveling to Cocachimba?

We recommend checking the weather forecast, as it’s very changeable here. Especially during the rainy season (between December and April), when temperatures can drop as low as 9 °C, so don’t forget to always bring a jacket to keep warm and/or a plastic poncho to avoid getting wet.

If you have day trips planned, we recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect your skin, as the sun can be very strong at midday. It’s also important to have insect repellent on hand.

What important details should I know about this package?

The tours in this package are offered in small groups. The maximum capacity is 10 people per group, and the guided tour is exclusively for the passengers who book these programs. The exception is the Jaén Airport/Hotel/Jaén Airport transfers, which will be offered as a private service. Please also consider the following details about the hotel:

GOCTA LODGE:

– Prices are per person based on double or triple occupancy. This includes transfers, accommodation, meals, the excursions described, and service taxes.

– For single occupancy (single room), this program has a supplement of S/300 per night (subject to availability).

– Tours and explanations are in Spanish. Please inquire about availability and prices in other languages.

– Tours and excursions are subject to rescheduling or cancellation due to external factors beyond the company’s control, such as weather conditions, road closures, etc.

– Check-in: 3:00 PM / Check-out: 1:00 PM These schedules are independent of your flight schedules.

-If the guest does not vacate their room by the scheduled check-out time, the late check-out fee will be automatically charged. If the guest vacates the room after 6:00 PM, the full rate will be charged. However, the property reserves the right to remove the guest’s personal belongings from the room after the check-out time has expired.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Book at least 15 days before your scheduled travel date and/or subject to availability. If you are from a neighboring country or anywhere else in the world, we recommend booking at least 20 days in advance, or 2 months if your arrival date falls during peak season in Chachapoyas.

Do I have to carry an identity document during the tours?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid ID, Immigration Card or Passport during all the tours included in the package.
