To detail

Our full-day tour begins with a transfer from the comfort of your accommodations to the community of Lámud, the starting point for the first attraction on the route: the Quiocta Cave. This is an amazing natural formation, recognized as the first illuminated cave in Peru, where you can admire incredible stalagmite and stalactite formations deep underground, sculpted by water into the rocks over the years.

Afterward, you will return to Lámud to enjoy a delicious local lunch and then continue your journey by vehicle to the traditional village of Cruzpata. From here, you will begin a 30-minute downhill walk surrounded by beautiful green landscapes until you reach the viewpoint, where you can admire the impressive funerary statues up close: the Sarcophagi of Karajía, a unique funerary pattern in the world where gigantic pre-Incan clay capsules guard the remains of the warrior elite from atop a rocky cliff.

Finally, you will begin the return journey to your transportation, arriving in the city of Chachapoyas at approximately 18:00.

  • Distance from Chachapoyas to the community of Lámud: Approximately 1 hour.
  • Distance from Cruzpata to the Karajía Sarcophagi: 1 km hike.
  • Maximum altitude at Quiocta: 2,793 meters (9,163 feet).
  • IMPORTANT: Not suitable for people with mobility limitations.
  • Climate: Average temperature of 17°C (63°F).
