The city of Arequipa is nestled amidst fertile countryside at the foot of the Misti volcano and is the second most important city in Peru. It is known as the White City because of the color of the sillar (volcanic stone used in the construction of almost all of its imposing churches and mansions).

Founded in 1540, this destination boasts one of the most beautiful main squares in Peru, making it a cornerstone of colonial architecture. The city’s historic center is also adorned with Baroque, Neoclassical, and Renaissance elements, characteristics that have led to its designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is definitely a city that will leave you wanting to learn more about its history.

In Arequipa you will always find an eternal blue sky, exquisite food, as well as a tradition of poets and geniuses of Peruvian culture such as Nobel Prize winner Mario Vargas Llosa, we await you.

Visit Picantería La Nueva Palomino, a restaurant with over 150 years of tradition, preparing typical local cuisine from the city of Arequipa. It’s located in Yanahuara, one of the most famous districts of this destination, where you can also take photos with the panoramic view of the Misti Volcano. If you’d like an experience that combines both options in a single activity, then we recommend our Gastronomic Tour.
