The Raura Mountain Range is the perfect setting for trekking and snow adventure enthusiasts. Considered easily accessible and close to Lima, this mountain range is located between the departments of Lima and Huánuco, where you can appreciate snow-capped peaks like Jimena (also known as Raura), located at 5200 meters above sea level.

To participate, don’t forget to carefully read the prerequisites. Pack your backpack and don’t miss the opportunity to explore this route where, in addition to the snow, we will perform a symbolic offering to Mother Earth and end the day relaxing in the Churín Hot Springs.

Location: Central Andes, between the Departments of Lima and Huánuco.
Distance from Lima to La Cordillera de Raura: 6 hours approx.
Maximum height in the Cordillera de Raura: 5200 meters above sea level (17,060 feet).
Duration of the Trekking to be carried out: 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes.
SUITABLE only for adults.
Cold weather. Average annual temperature 12 ºC (53.6 °F).
Dry season: from April to September.
Rainy season: from October to March.
NOT SUITABLE for people with respiratory or heart problems.
IMPORTANT: Participants must not have altitude sickness (soroche). Experience trekking above 3000 meters above sea level is required, and participants must be in good physical condition to complete the hike.
Departure time and location: Calle Comercio, behind the National Museum of San Borja: 21:30.
Return time (DAY 2): 17:00 (arrival in Lima approximately 21:00).

Itinerary

Day 1 DEPARTURE TO CHURIN

22:00: Meeting at the Starting Point: San Borja and departure towards the town of Churín.

Day 2TREKKING TO THE MOUNTAIN RANGE - CHURÍN THERMAL BATHS - AND RETURN TO LIMA

05:30: Brief stop for restrooms and shopping in the town of Sayán.
06:30: Departure from Sayán towards the Raura Mountain Range.
09:30: Arrival at the base of the Raura Mountain Range and technical briefing.
10:00: Start of the trek towards Nevado Jimena. We will make stops along the way for photos.
11:30: Arrival at the snow-covered area. Time to enjoy the glacial surroundings and perform a traditional offering to Mother Earth.
13:30: Return to the transport and transfer to the town of Churín.
14:30: Time for lunch at a local restaurant (not included).
15:30: Visit to the Churín Hot Springs to relax after the hike.
17:00: Start of the return trip to Lima.
21:00: Approximate arrival in Lima. End of our services.

What requirements must I meet to be able to carry out this Trekking Day?

Be of legal age (18 years).
Experience in trekking at more than 3000 meters above sea level is required.
Not having problems with height like soroche.
Be in good physical condition for the walk.
The exit is not suitable for people with respiratory or cardiac problems.

What important details should I know about the Trekking Day?

About the Van you should know:

-The mobility seats will be occupied according to the order of arrival, and you must return in the same seat in which you traveled at the beginning of the trip.

-In order to comply with the itinerary, the maximum tolerance to start the trip will be 15 minutes.

How long in advance can I make a reservation?

Maximum 72 hours before the tour start date and/or subject to availability. If you are from a neighboring country or anywhere else in the world, we recommend booking at least 2 weeks in advance.

Do I need to bring any identity document during this outing?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a DNI, Immigration Card or valid Passport during the realization of this campsite.
