To detail
The city of Chachapoyas is one of the oldest in Peru, founded back in 1832. Its warm and humid climate allows you to experience a unique blend of both Andean highlands and lush jungle landscapes during your visit. Day 1 of your itinerary begins with a City Tour that will take you through the surrounding areas and its main overlooks, such as the Sonche Canyon Viewpoint and the Huanca Urco Viewpoint. Afterward, you will have the late afternoon and evening free to acclimatize and enjoy the city at your own pace.

On Day 2, we will start our Full Day tour to the majestic Kuélap Fortified Citadel. Built by the Chachapoyas civilization at an altitude of 3,000 meters (9,843 feet) and discovered in 1843, this archaeological site is accessed via Peru’s very first cable car system, which will take us straight to the top. We will head back to Chachapoyas in the late afternoon. Day 3 will bring you face-to-face with the breathtaking splendor of the Gocta Waterfall. On this nearly 5 km (3-mile) hike, you will immerse yourself in the incredible high-jungle landscapes, a perfect route to reconnect with nature. You will also have the chance to spot various native bird species, such as the unique marvelous spatuletail hummingbird, an iconic symbol of this region.

The itinerary comes to an end on Day 4 after breakfast at the hotel. You will have some free time to shop for souvenirs before your scheduled transfer to the airport for your return flight. Therefore, don’t forget to bring a jacket to keep warm and/or a plastic poncho to avoid getting wet.

If you have day trips planned, we recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect your skin, as the sun can be very strong at midday. It’s also important to have insect repellent on hand.
