To end the adventure, you can choose your final activity within this itinerary: Option 1, explore the mystical Salinas Lake, a massive Andean salt flat where you can spot flamingos and vicuñas, and enjoy the medicinal baths of Lojen; or Option 2, visit the gigantic rock formations of the Puruña Stone Forest and the spectacular Pillones Waterfall. Arequipa and its outstanding gastronomy await you! Come and discover this gem of Southern Peru.

Day 1AREQUIPA CITY AND PEDESTRIAN CITY TOUR + SANTA CATALINA MONASTERY

  • 07:20: Arrival in Arequipa and transfer to the hotel (recommended time).
  • 08:45: Pickup from your accommodation and start of the Pedestrian City Tour of Arequipa.
  • 09:00: Visit to the Church of La Compañía Complex and its Cloisters. We will continue with a visit to the San Ignacio Dome, ending with a walk to the Arequipa Main Square.
  • 09:40: Arrival at the Arequipa Main Square and time for taking photos. The tour will continue towards the Cathedral Basilica Museum of Arequipa.
  • 10:10: Visit to the Cathedral Basilica Museum of Arequipa.
  • 11:00: Next, we will visit some of the city’s ancient colonial mansions, such as the Tristán del Pozo House. Departure towards the Santa Catalina Monastery.
  • 11:45: Start of the visit to the Santa Catalina Monastery.
  • 12:45: End of the visit and transfer to your accommodations. Free afternoon and evening to rest.

Day 2FULL DAY COLCA CANYON, CHACAPI HOT SPRINGS, SALINAS AND AGUADA BLANCA NATIONAL RESERVE

  • 03:00: Box breakfast to be requested at the hotel reception and pickup of passengers to start the Full Day tour.
  • 03:15: Pickup of passengers from their accommodation to begin the Full Day tour to the Colca Canyon, heading towards the Volcanoes Viewpoint.
  • 06:00: Brief stop at the Patapampa Viewpoint, also called the Volcanoes Viewpoint, at 4910 meters (16,109 feet) above sea level, the highest point on the route to the Colca Canyon, featuring views of the Ampato, Sabancaya, and Hualca Hualca volcanoes.
  • 07:00: Stop for breakfast in the town of Chivay.
  • 08:00: Departure to the town of Maca and visit to its beautiful Santa Ana Colonial Church.
  • 09:00: Visits to the Wayra Punku and Antahuilque viewpoints, and the Cruz del Cóndor Viewpoint, to appreciate the deep immensity of the Colca Canyon and, with luck, spot the flight of the majestic condor.
  • 11:00: Brief stop at Los Tronquitos Viewpoint to taste a local fruit called Sancayo, in fresh juices or as a delicious Colca Sour.
  • 12:00: Visit to the Chacapi Hot Springs and free time to enjoy its medicinal water pools in the town of Yanque.
  • 13:00: Transfer to the town of Chivay for the buffet lunch.
  • 15:00: Brief stop in Tocrapampa to observe the local flora and fauna, such as alpacas and llamas. Continuation to the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve to spot vicuñas.
  • 15:30: Departure towards the city of Arequipa.
  • 17:30: Return to the city of Arequipa, transfer to your accommodations, and free evening to rest.

Day 3FULL-DAY OUTDOOR (SALINAS LAKE AND LOJEN HOT SPRINGS OR PURUÑA STONE FOREST AND PILLONES WATERFALL).

Activity to be carried out according to your choice (please remember to pick up the included Box Lunch breakfasts from the hotel). 

OPTION 1: FULL-DAY TO SALINAS LAKE AND LOJEN HOT SPRINGS 

  • 06:00: Passenger pickup to begin the Full-Day tour. 
  • 07:10: Arrival at the traditional district of Chiguata. The experience begins at the Patapampa Viewpoint (Volcanoes Viewpoint) to appreciate Misti, Ampato, and Sabancaya at 4910 meters (16,109 feet) above sea level. 
  • 07:40: Arrival at Chiguata’s Main Square. A short City Tour will be conducted to visit the church and the Plaza de Armas. 
  • 08:00: Free time for breakfast at a local restaurant in Chiguata (not included). 
  • 08:30: Departure toward the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve. 
  • 09:00: Visit to Alto Simbral at 4,200 meters (13,779 feet) above sea level, where you can observe the local flora and fauna. 
  • 09:30: Arrival at the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve. 
  • 09:50: Visit to the Salinas Salt Flat. 
  • 10:00: Arrival at Salinas Lake, where you can take photos and observe the wildlife and vegetation of the area. 
  • 11:00: Free time to visit the Lojen Hot Springs and the Lojen mini-volcano. 
  • 12:30: Return trip to the town of Chiguata. 
  • 14:00: Arrival at the restaurant in Chiguata; free time for lunch (not included). 
  • 15:30: Return trip from Chiguata to Arequipa city.

OPTION 2: FULL-DAY TO PURUÑA STONE FOREST AND PILLONES WATERFALL 

  • 06:30: Passenger pickup to begin the Full-Day tour. 
  • 07:40: Arrival at the village of Pampa de Arrieros, known as the Ghost Town of Arequipa. 
  • 08:00: Departure toward the Pampa Blanca Viewpoint (located inside the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve). 
  • 08:15: Visit to the Pampa Blanca Viewpoint to appreciate the Misti and Chachani volcanoes, and the snow-capped Pichu Pichu. 
  • 09:00: Arrival at Patahuasi; free time for breakfast (not included), or to buy coca tea and local crafts. Brief stop at the Umaluso Tambo Cañahuas Wetland to spot llamas, vicuñas, and alpacas. Departure by private transport toward the Puruña Forest. 
  • 10:30: Arrival at the starting point of the trek to the Puruña Stone Forest, a place with bizarre rock formations and 100% natural stone columns. Free time for photos. 
  • 11:30: Return to the vehicle to head toward the Pillones Waterfall. 
  • 12:10: Arrival at the Pillones Waterfall. A 10-minute descent along the riverbank to appreciate the waterfall, its striking ice structures, and take photos. 
  • 13:00: Departure toward the Pillones Annex for lunch. 
  • 14:00: Arrival at the Pillones Annex; free time for lunch (not included). 
  • 15:30: Return trip to Arequipa city. 
  • 17:00: Arrival back in Arequipa city, transfer to your accommodations, and free evening to rest.

What is the best time to visit Arequipa?

Arequipa can be visited all year round, but if you want to travel during the best season, we recommend going between the months of April and December. The probability of rain during these months is low, making hikes and walks much more comfortable.

What important details should I know about this package?

The tours are offered as a private service, meaning that both the transport capacity and the guiding service are solely and exclusively for the passengers booking this package, with the exception of the following tours detailed below: 

– FULL DAY TO COLCA CANYON, SALINAS LAKE, AND PURUÑA STONE FOREST + PILLONES WATERFALLS: Vehicle seats will be occupied on a first-come, first-served basis, and you must return in the same seat you used at the start of the tour. In order to comply with the itinerary, you are kindly requested to be very attentive during boarding to meet the scheduled departure and return times. 

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

A minimum of 20 days before the scheduled travel date and/or subject to space availability. If you are from a neighboring country or any other part of the world, we recommend booking at least 30 days in advance, or 2 months if your arrival date falls during the high season in Arequipa.

Do I need to carry an ID document during the tours?

Yes, it is essential for all participants to carry a valid ID card (DNI), Alien Registration Card (Carnet de Extranjería), or Passport during all the tours included in the package.
