One of the most famous destinations discovered within the Department of Ica, is undoubtedly The Lost Canyon, within this Road Trip you can enjoy the incredible views from its natural viewpoint, explore it inside and discover all the peculiar ecosystem that surrounds it In addition, we will end the afternoon with a buggy ride at full speed through the Huacachina Desert.

The Road Trip begins with the pick up of the passengers from their accommodation, but you should not worry, because once inside the Cruz del Sur Bus, you will have 4 more hours to continue resting in their super comfortable seats.

We will arrive in the city of Ica at approximately 08:50, where our private guide will be waiting for us, to start the Tour to the Lost Canyon. We will head towards the Ocucaje desert, but not before stopping to buy some supplies that are needed for the road.

The first stop will be its natural viewpoint or also called “Callango Viewpoint”, here we will have free time to take as many photos as possible. Later we will continue with the trekking towards the interior of the Canyon. During the tour we will be able to appreciate different rock formations, fossils of animals that inhabited this area millions of years ago, as well as explore its flora and fauna.

After having learned a little more about this destination, we will return to the city of Ica, where we will have time to have lunch at The Catador Restaurant, and have a small wine and pisco tasting in its artisan winery.

As a closing of this Road Trip, we will go to the Huacachina Desert, here you will enjoy a tour at full speed through the dunes of one of the largest deserts in Latin America, known as the Huacachina desert; We will also do sandboarding while enjoying the wonderful view. The arrival in Lima will be scheduled for approximately 10:20 p.m.

Day 1 Description of the activities

  • 03:20: Pick up from the accommodation and departure towards the Cruz del Sur Bus Station.
  • 04:00: Departure of the Cruz del Sur Bus towards Ica.
  • 08:55: Arrival at the Cruz del Sur Station in Paracas.
  • 09:00: Beginning of the private Tour to the Canyon of the Lost.
  • 13:00: End of the Tour to the Canyon of the Lost and transfer to the main square of Ica.
  • 2:00 p.m.: Private transfers to El Catador Restaurant for lunch and later transfers to Huacachina.
  • 15:45: Arrival at the Huacachina Oasis.
  • 4:00 p.m.: Buggies ride and sandboarding through the Huacachina desert.
  • 17:00: End of the tour, free time for photos with the Oasis.
  • 17:30: Transfer to the Cruz del Sur Bus Station.

What is the best time to visit this destination?

The Lost Canyon and the Huacachina Desert are located within the Department of Ica, this destination always enjoys the sun, so it can be visited in any month of the year without any problem.

If you are traveling with children, remember that in order to take the Buggies ride they must be accompanied by an adult. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women.

What important details should I know about the Road Trip?

About these services it is important to know:

-CRUZ DEL SUR INTERPROVINCIAL BUS: Passengers must show up at the bus station 30 minutes before the departure time indicated on their Ticket. The seats must be occupied, according to the number assigned in your electronic ticket.

-BUGGY RIDE TO THE HUACACHINA: The buggie may be shared with other clients up to the maximum capacity of the sandbox.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Maximum up to 72 hours before the start of the tour and/or subject to space availability (only if you are in Lima). But if you are from a neighboring country or from any other part of the world, we recommend you book at least 15 days in advance.

Do I have to carry any identity document during the Road Trip?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry ID, Immigration Card or valid Passport during the tour, since entrance tickets to the Paracas Reserve can only be purchased physically on the day of the tour and presenting the document in the entrance booth of the attraction.
