In detail

Our Road Trip begins very early in the morning, departing for El Chaco Artisanal Pier. There, we will take a speedboat ride across the Bay, first visiting the famous “Candelabro”, an imposing 180-meter-long figure of unknown origin, mostly linked to the Pre-Inca Paracas Culture. Our next destination will be the Ballestas Islands, a group of islands home to a massive population of sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and guano birds.

Afterward, our journey continues to the city of Ica (approximately a 1-hour and 30-minute bus ride). Upon arrival, your tour leader will take you to the Huacachina Desert. Here, you will enjoy a high-speed ride across the dunes of one of the largest deserts in Latin America, followed by sandboarding while taking in the stunning views.

To wrap up this Road Trip, we will head to a Tourist Restaurant for lunch, followed by a brief wine and pisco tasting at its artisanal winery. Arrival back in Lima is scheduled for approximately 20:20.

Location: Paracas and La Huacachina are located within the Department of Ica.
Distance from Lima to Paracas: 3 hours approx.
Distance from Paracas to Ica: 1 hour and 30 min. approx.
Maximum altitude in Ica: 406 meters above sea level (1332 feet).
Climate: Dry and sunny. Average annual temperature 22ºC (71.6ºF).
SUITABLE for children from 6 years old* (*Specifically for the dune buggy ride and as long as they are accompanied by an adult).
IMPORTANT: Not suitable for people with heart problems or pregnant women.
Departure time: 03:15. Hotel pick-up (valid only for hotels within Miraflores or San Isidro).

03:15: Pick-up from the accommodation and departure heading to the Cruz del Sur Bus Station.
04:00: Departure of the Cruz del Sur Bus bound for Paracas.
07:15: Arrival at the Cruz del Sur Station in Paracas and private transfers to El Chaco Pier (starting point of the Tour to the Ballestas Islands). Delivery of the Box Lunches.
08:00: Beginning of the speedboat Tour to the Ballestas Islands.
10:00: Return to mainland and transfer to the Paracas Bus Station.
10:45: Departure of the Cruz del Sur Bus to the city of Ica.
12:05: Arrival in Ica and private transfer to Huacachina.
12:30: Arrival at the Huacachina Oasis, buggy ride, and sandboarding in the Huacachina desert.
13:30: End of the ride, free time for photos with the Oasis, and transfer to the Tourist Restaurant.
14:00: Arrival at the Tourist Restaurant in Ica, time for lunch, and free time for wine and pisco tasting, and souvenir shopping.

¿What is the best time to visit this destination?

The Paracas Reserve and the Huacachina Desert are located within the Department of Ica. This destination always enjoys sunshine, so it can be visited any month of the year without any problem.

If you are traveling with children, remember that in order to take the buggy ride they must be accompanied by an adult. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women.

¿What important details should I know about the Road Trip?

It is important to know about these services:

-INTERPROVINCIAL BUS CRUZ DEL SUR: Passengers must arrive at the bus station 30 minutes before the departure time indicated on their ticket. Seats must be occupied according to the number assigned on their electronic ticket.

-BALLESTAS ISLANDS TOUR: Seats on the boat will be occupied in the order in which they were lined up at the Marina Turística dock.

-BUGGY RIDE TO HUACACHINA: The buggy may be shared with other clients up to the maximum capacity of the sandbox.

¿How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Maximum up to 72 hours before the start of the Road Trip and/or subject to availability of seats (only if you are in Lima). However, if you are from a neighboring country or from any other part of the world, we recommend that you book at least 15 days in advance.

¿Do I need to bring any identification documents during the Road Trip?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid ID, Foreigner’s Card or Passport during the tour, since the entrance tickets to the Paracas Reserve can only be purchased physically on the same day of the tour and by presenting the document at the entrance booth of the attraction.
