If you’re looking for a day filled with history and mystery, the Aramu Muru Portal is a must-see on your visit to the Puno highlands. This enormous structure, known as the “Gate of the Gods,” is famous as one of the most important energy and meditation centers in the region due to legends about portals to other dimensions. Along with the Temple of Fertility in Chucuito, also called Inca Uyo, belonging to the pre-Inca Lupaca culture (descendants of the Aymara), this tour will allow you to connect with the past and understand how ancient civilizations worshipped life and the earth in their ceremonial centers.

Our full-day tour begins with pick-up from your accommodations and transfer to the south of Puno. The first stop will be in the Aramu Muru area, where you’ll hike through the Stone Forest to observe its natural formations. Upon arriving at the main site, you’ll see the monumental seven-meter-high formation carved from a single piece of reddish stone. This place was once used as an altar of worship, where you can approach, touch the door, and place your forehead in its central indentation to feel the energy of the place, while the guide explains the theories about its construction and shares some local legends.
On our return to the city of Puno, our next stop will be the town of Chucuito, where we’ll visit the Inca Uyo (Temple of Fertility). At this site, you will walk among the phallic-shaped stone sculptures, where your guide will provide an overview of the Lupaca culture (a pre-Inca civilization), helping you understand why its inhabitants performed rituals to pray for bountiful harvests and abundance. It is a small but essential site for understanding their beliefs about reproduction and the land.
Finally, you will visit the Main Square of Chucuito to see the colonial churches of Santo Domingo and La Asunción, as well as the Sundial. Here, you will have free time for lunch (not included) at local restaurants. You can also take advantage of this time to stroll through the streets, visit the viewpoint, and purchase handicrafts before returning to Puno for your transfer to your accommodations. End of our services.
The city of Puno can be visited year-round, but take note of the two most distinct seasons in terms of weather. For example, if your trip is between September and March (don’t forget to pack waterproof clothing), because it will be the rainy season. But if your trip is between April and August (then you can enjoy the dry season), where you will find clear, sunny skies and a very pleasant daytime temperature (approximately 15-20°C).
