The 7 Colors Mountain of Palccoyo (4900 meters altitude), is located 100 km south of the city of Cusco. Its beautiful colorful mountains make this attraction the perfect hiking alternative. If you had planned to do the route to the 7 Colors Mountain Vinicunca (5200 meters altitude), but you are not very sure of your resistance to altitude, then this scenario is very similar and with less slope and altitude. The full day departs from the city of Cusco towards the town of Checacupe (2 hours away), here we will make a brief stop to relax our legs and take photos in a beautiful colonial bridge of the place. From here to the town of Palccoyo it will be 30 more minutes in the van, finally the walk will begin without unevenness towards the Mountain of  7 Colors of Palccoyo (round trip 2 km).

It is very important to be well acclimatized to carry out this tour, since due to the proximity to the snowy Ausangate (6384 meters of altitude and the highest in the city of Cusco) the temperatures are very low, sometimes 0º C, so It usually affects people with altitude sickness, nothing that a good coca tea or a pill can’t control.

Do not forget to always check the weather forecast before booking this tour so that everything goes perfectly.

  • Location: Checacupe, Province of Canchis, Department of Cusco, Peru.
  • Distance from Cusco city to Checacupe by Van: 2 hours.
  • Distance from Checacupe to the town of Palccoyo (starting point of the walk): 30 minutes.

What is the best time to go to the 7 Colors Mountain in Palccoyo?

The best time to visit this attraction are the months of April and October, months in which the probability of rain is lower, making the walk much more bearable. Likewise, we recommend that before taking the tour you check the weather forecast.

What important details should I know about the Full Day?

About the Van you should know:

-In order to comply with the itinerary, the maximum tolerance to start the trip will be 15 minutes.

-The mobility seats will be occupied according to the order of arrival, and you must return in the same seat in which you traveled at the beginning of the tour.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Maximum up to 48 hours before the start of the tour and/or subject to space availability (only if you are already in Cusco). But if you are from a neighboring country or from any other part of the world, we recommend you book at least 30 days in advance or 2 months if the date you arrive is in high season in Cusco.

Should I bring any identity document during the Full Day?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry ID, Immigration Card or valid Passport during the tour, since entrance tickets can only be purchased physically on the day of the tour and by presenting the document at the ticket office of the Full Day attractive to visit
