To detail

Our 5-day/4-night package begins very early in the morning with passenger pick-up from the comfort of their accommodations. We will then head south through the Cordillera Blanca, passing through picturesque Andean villages until we reach Matacancha, the starting point of our trek at the base of the mountains. On the first day, you will ascend the Cacananpunta Pass at 4,700 meters (15,420 feet), which serves as the natural gateway to the heart of the mountain range. After descending through glacial valleys surrounded by rock formations, you will establish your first camp on the shores of Mitucocha Lake, where you will rest in absolute silence under the watchful gaze of the imposing snow-capped peaks of Rondoy and Jirishanca.

On the second day, you will traverse the Alpine Route along the Fossil Ridge at 4,750 meters (15,584 feet). This trail is a geological marvel where you will literally walk on an ancient seabed uplifted by the earth’s forces, finding fossils embedded in the rocks at almost 5,000 meters above sea level. The day will culminate with the descent to the spectacular Carhuacocha Lake, considered by travelers from around the world to be one of the most beautiful campsites on the planet, where you will spend the night facing the colossal ice wall of Yerupajá (6,634 meters/21,765 feet) and the legendary Nevado Siula Grande.

The third day will be the most photogenic of the trek. You will take the high trail to the Mirador de las Tres Lagunas (Three Lakes Viewpoint), a strategic point that offers one of the most famous views in the Andes, where you will see the Cangrajanca, Siulacocha, and Quesillococha lakes perfectly aligned at the foot of the glaciers. Then, you will conquer the Siula Pass at 4,800 meters (15,748 feet), enjoying unparalleled views of the blue ice of the hanging glaciers. Finally, they will descend to the meadow of Huayhuash Camp, a peaceful refuge surrounded by snow-capped peaks and endless skies.

On the fourth day, they will reach the highest point of their expedition: the rugged and remote Trapecio Pass, at an altitude of 5,100 meters (16,732 feet). The landscape here will transform into a high-altitude desert environment, harsh and breathtaking, where they will feel on top of the world surrounded by sharp peaks. After arriving at Cuyoc Camp, and if time permits, they will take an optional hike to the San Antonio Viewpoint, considered the most spectacular balcony in the entire mountain range, from where they will enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Siula and Jurao valleys.

On the fifth and final day, they will begin a refreshing descent that will allow them to notice the change in ecosystem towards the lush Huayllapa Valley (3,500 meters/11,483 feet). They will leave behind the glaciers and the cold of the high mountains to hike among waterfalls, alpine meadows, and small local farms that showcase Andean rural life. Upon arriving at the traditional village of Huayllapa, they will board our transport back to the city of Huaraz, arriving at approximately 18:30. End of our services.
