Our package begins very early in the morning with passenger pick-up from their accommodations, located near the Main Square of Cusco, to head towards Mollepata. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a light breakfast before continuing to Challacancha, the starting point of your trek. You will hike along a trail to Soraypampa, where you will settle into your exclusive glass domes at Sky Camp and enjoy a meal prepared by our staff. In the afternoon, you will ascend to Humantay Lake, at 4,200 meters (13,780 feet), to take photographs and observe the glacier; finally, you will return to the camp for dinner and rest in your glass igloos.
On the second day, you will tackle the ascent to Abra Salkantay, the highest point of the trip at 4,630 meters (15,190 feet), where you will have time to capture images of the snow-capped panorama. After reaching the summit, you’ll begin your descent into the cloud forest for lunch in the Wayracmachay area, where you’ll witness the landscape transform into a lush green jungle. The day will end in Collpapampa, with an overnight stay at the Mountain Sky View glamping site by the river. On the third day, you’ll hike through the Santa Teresa Valley, observing coffee and fruit plantations, until you reach the Super Jungle Domes in Lucmabamba. After lunch, you’ll visit an organic coffee farm to learn about the coffee-growing process and then relax in your dome.
On the fourth day, you’ll trek a section of the original Inca Trail to the archaeological site of Llactapata. From here, you’ll get your first glimpse of the Machu Picchu citadel in the distance and explore it with your guide. After lunch in the Aobamba sector, you’ll descend to Hidroeléctrica and hike along the railway tracks beside the Urubamba River (or take the train, at your discretion, not included) until you reach the town of Aguas Calientes for dinner and a rest at your hotel. Finally, on the fifth day, you will visit the citadel of Machu Picchu for a guided tour of its main sectors (Circuit 2). You will also have the option of hiking Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain (optional, not included, prior arrangement required). After the visit, you will return to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) before boarding the train to Ollantaytambo and then transferring to your accommodation in Cusco. End of our services.
Cusco can be visited throughout the year, but if you want to travel during the best time, we recommend going between the months of April and October, as the probability of rain during those months is low, making the mountains look more majestic and with lots of sunlight.
To avoid altitude sickness, it is necessary to acclimatize by arriving in Cusco 2 or 3 days before the trek. If you are coming from a high-altitude area, you should dedicate at least one full day in the city to rest and recover from the journey before starting the expedition. The tour is offered as a shared service, so the groups are made up of people of different ages and physical conditions who walk at their own pace. In the event of any proposed changes to the itinerary, the guide will make the final decision after consulting with all participants.
Regarding the van, please note:
– In order to adhere to the itinerary, the maximum grace period for starting the trip will be 15 minutes.
– Seats in the van will be assigned according to the order of arrival, and you must return in the same seat you occupied at the beginning of the tour.
At least 3 months before the scheduled travel date and/or subject to availability of tickets for Circuit 2 of Machu Picchu, or 4 months in advance if your arrival date falls during peak season in Cusco (April to November).
Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid ID, Foreigner’s Card or Passport during all the tours included in the package.
