This 2-day Inca Trail trek is designed to let you explore the best of the paths created by this ancient civilization, while enjoying the lush vegetation, wildflowers, and important archaeological sites like Chachabamba and Wiñay Wayna (an agricultural center built by the Inca Pachacutec). This program includes an overnight stay in the town of Aguas Calientes, allowing you to arrive at the citadel very early the next morning.   • Distance from Lima to Cusco by plane: 42 minutes. By bus: Approximately 22 hours.

DAY 1 CUSCO – KM 104 – AGUAS CALIENTES

  • 4:00: Pick-up from your accommodation in Cusco and transfer to the Ollantaytambo train station.
  • 6:10: Train departure towards Kilometer 104.
  • 9:00: Start of the hike with the crossing of the bridge over the Urubamba River. This is the official checkpoint for presenting entry documents for the route.
  • 11:00: Arrival at the archaeological site of Chachabamba, an ancient religious center. Here, a historical explanation of the site is given amidst a lush green landscape.
  • 13:00: Stop at Wiñay Wayna for a break and a boxed lunch. It is one of the most impressive archaeological sites due to its agricultural terraces facing the mountain.
  • 15:30: Arrival at the Sun Gate or Inti Punku. Entrance to the Historic Sanctuary of Machu Picchu (Circuit I – Upper Terrace) for capturing incredible photographs.
  • 17:00: Bus descent to the town of Aguas Calientes (not included).
  • 19:00: Dinner at a local restaurant in Aguas Calientes. Afterwards, free time to explore the town and rest at your hotel.

DAY 2MACHU PICCHU – RETURN TO CUSCO

  • 5:30: Breakfast at the hotel. Remember to check out of the hotel before departing for the excursion (your luggage can be stored at the hotel’s storage).
  • 6:30: Transfer by bus to the main entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel.
  • 7:00: Guided tour of Circuit 3 – Designed Royalty, where you will visit the Temple of the Sun, the Inca House, the water fountains, the Temple of the Condor, and the agricultural terraces.
  • 9:30: Time for optional hikes if you have purchased tickets in advance for Huayna Picchu Mountain or Huchuy Picchu Mountain (not included).
  • 10:00: For those who chose not to participate in any of the extra circuits at Machu Picchu, the next step is to take the bus back to the lower town, where you will have free time for souvenir shopping and other activities.
  • 13:00: Free time for lunch in Aguas Calientes (not included).
  • 14:25: Transfer to the Aguas Calientes train station for the return train to Ollantaytambo.
  • 14:55: Train departs from Aguas Calientes/Ollantaytambo Station.
  • 16:40: Arrival at Ollantaytambo Station.
  • 16:55: Transfer to Cusco.
  • 18:30: Arrival in Cusco and transfer to your accommodations. End of our services.

What is the best time to go to Cusco?

Cusco can be visited year-round, but if you want to travel at the best time, we recommend going between April and October, as the probability of rain during those months is low, making the mountains look more majestic and bathed in sunshine.

What important details should I know about the Tour?

The tour is offered as a shared service, so the groups are made up of people of different ages and physical abilities who walk at their own pace. Any proposed changes to the itinerary will be made by the guide after consulting with all participants.

Regarding the van, please note:

– To ensure we adhere to the itinerary, the maximum grace period for starting the trip is 15 minutes.

– Seats in the van will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis, and you must return to the same seat you occupied at the start of the tour.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

At least 3 months before the scheduled travel date and/or subject to availability of tickets on the Inca Trail Circuit and Machu Picchu Circuit 2, or 4 months in advance if your arrival date falls during peak season in Cusco (April to November).

Do I need to bring any identification documents during the tour?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid ID, Foreigner’s Card or Passport during all the tours included in the package.
