The starting point to the Lagoon will be the city of Cusco, heading towards the town of Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level) from here you will also be able to appreciate one of the highest snow-capped mountains in the Cusco Region: The snowy Salkantay (6271 meters of altitude), because this route is the same one used by sports climbers to reach it.
Once prepared and a little more acclimatized, the walk to the Lagoon will begin along a high Andean path, the walk may last between 40 to 80 minutes, depending on the physical condition and pace of the group.
During the tour you will find: cultivation areas, multicolored landscapes, llamas, alpacas, sheep, vicuñas, all perfectly harmonized with the characteristic flora of this area: ichus and bofedales (high-altitude wetlands).
The best time to visit the Humantay Lagoon is from May to November, the weather during this season is mainly sunny, so you will surely be able to take very good photographs and walk calmly, since it is very unlikely that it will rain.
The tours are offered in a private service, that is, both the capacity of the transport and the guide service, is solely and exclusively for the passengers who take this tour.
Maximum up to 48 hours before the start of the tour and/or subject to space availability (only if you are already in Cusco). But if you are from a neighboring country or from any other part of the world, we recommend you book at least 30 days in advance or 2 months if the date you arrive is high season in Cusco.
Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid DNI, Immigration Card or Passport during the tour, since entrance tickets can only be purchased physically on the same day of the tour and by presenting the document at the ticket office attractive to visit.
