To detail

Our journey begins with passenger pick-up directly from their accommodation for a first stop at the Puma Lookout, where they will enjoy a panoramic view of the city and the majestic Lake Titicaca. Afterward, they will continue their journey to a family home in Atuncolla to immerse themselves in the daily life of the camp. They will look for camelids (animals typical of the Andes, such as llamas and alpacas) and enjoy a tasting of local varieties of native papayas, a staple of the Andean diet. Here, they will also see the famous Pukara Bulls (ceramic figures representing protection and prosperity) and have the opportunity to purchase these traditional handicrafts.

For this experience, they will head to the entrance of the complex to begin the hike to the chullpas (pre-Incan burial towers). During the tour, you will learn that this site was initially inhabited by the Pukara culture (famous for being the first masters of stonework) and later by the Tiwanaku (a powerful ancient civilization of the Andean highlands), who developed advanced agricultural systems and created funerary monuments for the elite in the towers overlooking the surrounding population. We will discover how, upon the arrival of the Incas, these structures were not destroyed, but rather incorporated into their existing architecture to expand Tawantinsuyu (the great Inca Empire).

Upon reaching the summit, you will witness the most breathtaking moment of the tour: the imposing towers rising above the vastness of Lake Umayo. From this vantage point, you will contemplate Hatun Island, an imposing volcanic plateau in the middle of the water that serves as a natural refuge for vicuñas and completes this legendary landscape. In this unforgettable setting, you can take spectacular photographs while discovering how the ancient masters carved giant stones with such precision and why the small doorways of the castles always look the way they do. At the start of the tour, you will have free time to buy tickets or enjoy a hot drink before returning to the city of Puno, arriving at approximately 13:30 (early shift) or 18:30 (late shift).
