Waqrapukara or “Horn-shaped Fortress”, is a mixture of pre-Inca and Inca construction, built by the Qanchi ethnic group during the time of the Incas, yet many of its mysteries have not been fully discovered, which is believed, is that it could have been used as a sanctuary or astronomical observatory.
The walk to reach the top of the enclosure is approximately 7 kilometers, so it is recommended to have good resistance and acclimatization to the height (you will reach 4,300 meters above sea level in the highest part). The final scenery will make up for it all!
You can go to Waqrapukara all year round, but if you want to visit it at the best time, we recommend you go between the months of April to October, because the probability of rain and even snow during those months is low, of this form you will be able to appreciate without problems the colored lines that are produced thanks to the minerals that exist in these mountains.
