Our full-day tour begins with pick-up from your accommodation to begin the journey to the hamlet of Pitec, located at 3,850 meters above sea level (12,631 feet). From this point, we officially enter Huascarán National Park to begin a challenging hike. The trail follows a zigzag path that tests physical endurance, with sections featuring rock faces equipped with steel cables for safe ascents. After an approximately three-hour climb, we reach Churup Lake, located at 4,450 meters above sea level (14,600 feet).

Once at the destination, you’ll have time to admire the spectacular views of the glacial landscape and take photographs. Lunch (box lunch, not included) will be served near the lake, allowing you to enjoy the serenity of the area. Afterward, we begin the return journey along the same trail, descending for approximately two hours back to our transport in Pitec. The tour concludes with the transfer to the city of Huaraz, arriving at approximately 15:00 hours.

Location: Huaraz, Department of Ancash, Perú.
Distance from Lima to Huaraz by plane: 45 minutes (Arrival airport: Anta). By bus: approximately 7 hours.
Maximum altitude in Huaraz: 3052 meters of altitude (10.013 feet).
IMPORTANT: Have good acclimatization to the altitude.
Climate: Cold and dry temperate. Average annual temperature 10 ºC (50 °F).
Low season: from October to March (rainy season).
High season: from April to September
Departure time: 07:30. Hotel pick up (valid only for hotels near the Main Square of Huaraz).
Return time: 14:15 (departure towards the city of Huaraz, approximate arrival time 15:00).

7:30: Pick-up of passengers from the comfort of their accommodation in the city of Huaraz for the start of the Full Day excursion and departure in private transport heading east.
8:00: Approximate arrival at the hamlet of Pitec (3850 m.a.s.l./12,631 ft), the entrance point to Huascarán National Park and the start of the challenging hike (zigzag trail with steel cables on rocky sections).
11:00: Arrival at Churup Lake (4450 m.a.s.l./14,599 ft). Free time to admire the spectacular views of the turquoise water and the imposing snow-capped Churup mountain (5495 m.a.s.l./18,028 ft), and enjoy your lunch (box lunch, not included).
12:15: Start of the return descent (approximately 2 hours downhill) to where the transport awaits in Pitec.
14:15: Departure from Pitec for the return trip to Huaraz by private transport.
15:00: Approximate arrival in the city of Huaraz. End of our services.

What is the best time of year to visit Huaraz?

We recommend visiting the city of Huaraz between April and October, as these are the months when the weather is clearest, allowing you to enjoy trekking and hiking activities more comfortably and safely.

What important details should I know about the Full Day?

Regarding the vehicle, please note:

– In order to adhere to the itinerary, the maximum grace period for starting the trip is 15 minutes.

– Seats in the vehicle will be assigned according to the order of arrival, and you must return in the same seat you occupied at the beginning of the Full Day tour.

How long in advance can I make a reservation?

Maximum 48 hours before the scheduled travel date and/or subject to availability. If you are from a neighboring country or anywhere else in the world, we recommend booking at least 7 days in advance, or 15 days or 1 month in advance if your arrival date falls during peak season in Huaraz.

Do I have to carry an identity document during the tour?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid ID, Immigration Card or Passport during the Full Day.
