Puno – Full Day Private South Aymara Route Copacabana, Kazani, Yunguyo, Inka Qamaña and Chucuito from Puno

On this binational route, you can visit the Bolivian side: the sanctuary of Copacabana, famous for its Basilica, and the border towns of Yunguyo and Kazani. On the Peruvian side, the wealth of attractions continues with a visit to Inka Qamaña, known as the “Inca Resting Place.” The route culminates in the town of Chucuito with a visit to Inka Uyo, an archaeological site with dozens of stone sculptures dedicated to the fertility of the land. This is an experience designed to explore the history and present-day reality of two nations united by the same lake.

Our full-day tour begins with passenger pick-up from their accommodations near the Main Square of Puno for the direct journey to the southern border. You will travel through the city of Yunguyo to reach the Kasani border crossing, where you will complete the mandatory immigration procedures for entry into Bolivia. Once in Bolivia, you will head to the Copacabana Sanctuary to visit its famous Basilica and explore the main squares, which reflect local customs. Afterward, we will begin the hike to Cerro Calvario (Calvary Hill) for a privileged view of Lake Titicaca from the Bolivian side (from here you can see the Islands of the Sun and the Moon). Upon returning to the city, we will stop for lunch (not included) and free time to purchase handicrafts by the lake.

After concluding your visit in Bolivia and re-entering Peru, you will begin your return journey, exploring the rich archaeological sites of the region. The first stop will be at the Inka Qamaña archaeological site, a sacred ceremonial enclosure known as the “Inca’s Resting Place.” It was a mandatory stop for his entourage before reaching the then-sacred city of Yunguyo, a route that would allow them to reach the Islands of the Sun and the Tiahuanaco region. There, you will also observe up close its impressive steps and thrones carved from bedrock, where different rituals were practiced, serving as preparation for ceremonies on the southern part of the lake.

Finally, you will arrive at the town of Chucuito to enter the enigmatic Inka Uyo, exploring this ceremonial site to observe the dozens of stone sculptures dedicated to the fertility of the land. After learning about the history and ancient rituals of this site, you will begin the final leg of the return journey to the city of Puno, arriving at approximately 18:30 for direct transfer to your accommodations.
