The Parón Lake is a major natural attraction in ancient Peru, dating back to the glacial formation of the Cordillera Blanca (120 million years ago), and has become a pilgrimage site for nature lovers and photographers.

Located in a ravine east of the city of Caraz, within Huascarán National Park, visitors from all over come to marvel at its main attraction: the imposing snow-capped Artesonraju. This impressive pyramidal peak, which inspired the Paramount Pictures logo, is reflected majestically in the turquoise waters of the lagoon, along with other peaks such as Pirámide Garcilazo and Caraz.

To detail

Our full day tour begins with passenger pick up directly from your accommodation. We will begin our journey north, making a brief stop in Caraz, this city is known as “Caraz Sweetness” for its production of manjar blanco and other typical sweets of the area, where you will have time to visit its main square and purchase supplies for the trip; we will have breakfast here.

From this point, we begin the gradual ascent along a well-maintained road that winds past picturesque villages, finally arriving at Parón Lake. Once there, you’ll have free time to explore: walk along the shore, observe the native Andean flora and, of course, capture the views of the iconic pyramid-shaped mountains reflected in the turquoise water: Artesonraju, Pirámide Garcilazo, and Caraz. For the more adventurous, there’s an optional hike (approximately 40 minutes) along a zigzag trail with some rocky sections, leading to a high viewpoint with an unparalleled panoramic view of the entire lake.

After enjoying this stunning destination and taking plenty of photos, we’ll return along the same route to the town of Caraz, finally arriving back in Huaraz at approximately 18:00.
