On the other side of the mountain range awaits Chacas, a destination internationally recognized by the UN as one of the best tourist towns in the world. This small Peruvian-Italian corner stands out not only for its colonial architecture but also for a deep-rooted artisanal tradition fostered by Operation Mato Grosso and Don Bosco, which has defined the identity and sustainability of its community.

To reach this place, you must cross the area that connects the Huaylas Alley with the Conchucos Valley, which offers one of the most spectacular routes in Áncash, passing through the heart of Huascarán National Park. Along this route, the landscape transforms as you reach Olympic Point,  the highest point of the route: 5015 meters above sea level (16,453 feet). You will also have the opportunity to pass through the highest vehicular tunnel in Peru, under the watchful gaze of the snow-capped peaks of Ulta and Contrahierbas.
