Rupac, considered a National Cultural Heritage site since 1999, is located in the Province of Huaral, Department of Lima, at an altitude of 3,580 meters (11,745 feet). Here you can visit the pre-Incan citadel of the Atavillos, a culture that occupied a large area of ​​the Lima highlands around 1200 AD.

To reach this place, you must hike approximately 3 hours uphill from the town of Pampas. The destination also offers one of the most beautiful sunsets in all of Lima, as the sky lights up with colors at dusk. If you are looking for peace and quiet and want to disconnect from everything, this place is exactly what you need.

  • Location: Rupac, Atavillos Low District, Huaral Province, Lima Department, Peru.
  • Distance from Lima to the Town of Huaral by Bus: 3 hours approx.
  • Maximum altitude in Rupac: 3580 meters altitude. (11,745 feet).
  • IMPORTANT: Preferably not be sedentary people and have good acclimatization to the altitude.

Itinerary

DAY 1LIMA – HUARAL – RUPAC TRIP

  • 4:30: Meeting at the Departure Point: San Borja. Departure towards Huaral.
  • 7:00: Stop for breakfast (not included) before continuing towards the Huaral highlands.
  • 10:00: Arrival at the town of La Florida (Entrance fee to the citadel must be paid; only the guide gets off the vehicle).
  • 10:30: Arrival at the town of Pampas and lunch.
  • 12:00: Start of the hike towards Rupac. An approximately 3-hour hike, passing by the Huarín waterfall and Marca Cullpi.
  • 15:30: Arrival at the campsite and setup in the tents.
  • 17:30: Hike to the archaeological site to appreciate the sunset or a blanket of clouds.
  • 19:30: Return to the campsite for dinner (not included), group campfire, and rest.

DAY 2TREKKING AND TOUR IN RUPAC

  • 06:00: We wake up to watch the sunrise and have breakfast (not included).
  • 07:00: Visit to the complex to observe the morning light and enjoy the cloud cover.
  • 09:00: Return to camp and pack up equipment.
  • 10:00: Start of the descent to the Village of Pampas.
  • 12:00: Arrival in the Village of Pampas and lunch.
  • 14:00: We begin our return to the city of Lima (there will be a stop along the way for restrooms and shopping).
  • 19:00 PM: Approximate arrival in Lima. End of our services.

What other requirements must I meet to be part of this activity?

-We recommend being 14 years old as a minimum age and a maximum age of 65 years to be able to carry out this Camping.

What important details should I know about the campsite?

About the Van you should know:

-The mobility seats will be occupied according to the order of arrival, and you must return in the same seat in which you traveled at the beginning of the trip.
