To detail

The first day of our package will begin with a walking City Tour through the Plaza de Armas, the Ancash Archaeological Museum, the Pastorita Huaracina Boulevard (renowned Ancashone singer-songwriter), and the Sanctuary of the Lord of Solitude. You will walk along the traditional José Olaya Street, the only passageway that remained standing after the 1970 earthquake, and then transfer to the Rataquenua Viewpoint to appreciate a beautiful panoramic view of the city and the snow-capped peaks.

The second day will take you to explore Inca ancestors on a Full Day tour to the Chavín de Huántar Archaeological Complex, a mystical pre-Inca center where you will walk through its mysterious underground labyrinths and galleries, also visiting its Chavín National Museum to observe the imposing original tenon heads and the Lanzón Monolithic (an important oracle of Andean divinity).

On the third day, you can opt for Parón Lake, famous in the Cordillera Blanca for its intense turquoise blue color and its direct view of the snow-capped Artesonraju; or decide on the excursion to the Pastoruri Glacier, a very accessible snow attraction where you will travel the Climate Change Route and see the huge Puya Raimondi plants, an endemic species that requires up to a century to bloom.

On the fourth day, you will have the Full Day to Punta Olímpica and the town of Chacas. We will start by heading north towards Carhuaz (an important city in the Huaylas Valley) to taste its traditional fruit ice creams, then we will ascend through the Ulta Gorge until crossing the Punta Olímpica Tunnel (the highest trans-Andean vehicular pass on the planet). This route will offer you postcard-like photos with destinations such as Cancaraca Lake and the snow-capped Huascarán and Contrahierbas, finally descending to the town of Chacas where we will appreciate its main temple, which features gold leaf finishes and fine wood-carved altars belonging to the Don Bosco Artisans Association (famous for having had the help of Italian missionaries).

On the fifth day, you will have the option to choose between two excellent alternatives: the Full Day to Llanganuco Lake and the Yungay Campo Santo, an ideal alternative for those who wish to take an optional (not included) boat ride on Chinancocha Lake, take beautiful photos, and take a cultural walk to the Yungay Campo Santo to learn about the history of the town, before concluding the afternoon with a visit to the handicraft workshops in Taricá; but if you are looking for an adventure with greater physical demand, we recommend the Full Day to Lake 69, a challenging trek towards this lake located beneath the imposing Chacraraju and Pisco peaks. Do not forget to indicate your chosen option as soon as possible to organize your experience.

On the sixth day, you will visit Rocotuyoc Lake and Frozen Lake on a Full Day that will take you north crossing the Huaylas Valley; we will head towards the Paqcharuri Gorge to appreciate its waterfall and the native forest that surrounds it. Upon entering the Huascarán National Park, we will arrive at Rocotuyoc Lake at 4,500 meters (14,764 feet) of altitude, after a very short walk of 10 to 15 minutes along a ramp accessible to the general public. At this point, optionally, you can do a 30 to 45-minute trek (or board a local boat, not included) to Frozen Lake at 4,550 meters (14,928 feet) of altitude, enjoying incredible views of the snow-capped Paccharaju, Vallunaraju, and Copa.

Day 1ARRIVAL IN HUARAZ AND PEDESTRIAN CITY TOUR.

08:10: Arrival in Huaraz and transfer to the hotel (recommended time).
10:30: Pick up from your accommodation and start of the Pedestrian City Tour through the city of Huaraz.
10:45: Visit to the Huaraz Plaza de Armas. The tour will continue towards the Archaeological Museum of Ancash.
11:00: Visit to the “Augusto Soriano Infante” Archaeological Museum of Ancash. Then the walk will head towards the Ancash Boulevard.
11:45: Tour along the boulevard named “Pastorita Huaracina”. The tour will continue towards the Lord of Solitude Church and Plaza.
12:00: Visit to the Lord of Solitude Church and Plaza and a walk along the historic José Olaya Street.
12:45: Transfer to the Rataquenua Viewpoint for panoramic views of the city and the snow-capped mountains (this is the only transfer by vehicle).
13:30: Lunch at a local tourist restaurant (not included).
14:15: End of the visit and transfer to your accommodations. Free afternoon and evening for the overnight stay.

Day 2FULL DAY TO THE CHAVIN DE HUANTAR ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEX.

07:00: Breakfast at the Hotel.
09:00: Pickup of passengers to start the Full Day tour.
10:30: Visit to Querococha Lake and appreciation of the Kahuish tunnel. The route will continue toward the Chavin de Huantar Archaeological Complex.
11:30: Arrival at the Chavin de Huantar Archaeological Complex where we will appreciate the tenon head, the Chavin lanzon, portal of the falconids, and others.
12:15: Visit to the Chavin National Museum.
13:00: Stop at Tourist Restaurants for lunch (not included).
15:30: Return to the city of Huaraz.
19:00: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations, and free night for overnight stay.

Day 3FULL DAY OUTDOOR 1: PARÓN LAKE OR PASTORURI GLACIER.

OPTION 1: FULL DAY TO PARÓN LAKE.

06:30: Breakfast at the Hotel.
07:45: Pick-up of passengers to start the Full Day.
08:30: Stop in the Town of Caraz to visit its main square and buy provisions for the road.
10:00: Arrival at Parón Lake and start of the Trekking to the Viewpoint.
10:45: Arrival at the Viewpoint, where you will have free time to take photos; from here we will have views of the Huandoy, Pisco, Pirámide de Garcilaso, and Artesonraju (Paramount) snowy peaks, and the Sphinx (known as the great Andean wall).
11:30: Trekking back to Parón Lake, free time for kayaking or boat rides (approximate cost S/ 30 soles or US$9 per activity, not included).
13:00: Lunch at a Tourist Restaurant (not included).
14:00: Return to the city of Huaraz.
18:00: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations, and free afternoon/evening for overnight stay.

OPTION 2: FULL DAY TO PASTORURI GLACIER.

07:00: Breakfast at the Hotel.
08:30: Pick-up of passengers to start the Full Day.
09:30: Small stop to buy snacks and reserve lunch (not included). The journey will continue towards Patococha Lake.
11:00: Quick stop to visit Patococha Lake (where there are more than 20 types of ducks). The route will continue towards the Puya Raimondi plants.
12:00: Visit to the carbonated water spring, the multi-colored water eye, and observe the life cycle of the Puya Raimondi plants. The journey will continue towards the Pastoruri Glacier.
12:30: Arrival at the Pastoruri Glacier area and start of the Trekking.
13:30: Start of the trekking back to the vehicles to begin the trip to the restaurant where you will have lunch (not included).
14:30: Lunch at the Tourist Restaurant and return to the city of Huaraz.
17:30: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations, and free night for overnight stay.

Day 4FULL DAY PUNTA OLÍMPICA AND TOWN OF CHACAS.

07:00: Breakfast at the Hotel.
08:30: Pick up of passengers to begin the Full Day and departure towards the city of Carhuaz.
09:50: First stop in the town of Carhuaz for an optional artisanal ice cream tasting (not included) and a brief visit to its main square. The route will continue towards the Huascaran National Park.
11:00: Entry to the Huascaran National Park through the Ulta Valley. Arrival at the Punta Olimpica Tunnel, where you will have a panoramic view of the Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Ulta, and Contrahierbas snow-capped mountains.
11:20: Visit to Lake Cancaraca, a high-altitude mirror of water that captures the beauty of the Andean surroundings. Departure towards the town of Chacas.
12:30: Arrival at the picturesque Town of Chacas for lunch (not included).
13:10: Exploration of the local temple to observe its stained-glass windows and its main altarpiece covered in gold leaf. Visit to the Chacas Museum and an inside look at the Don Bosco Artisans workshops (wood, textiles, clay, glass).
15:00: Return to the city of Huaraz.
18:00: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations, and free evening for overnight stay.

Day 5FULL DAY OUTDOOR: LAKE LLANGANUCO + YUNGAY HOLY GROUND OR LAKE 69 + LAKE LLANGANUCO.

Activity to be performed according to your choice (remember not to forget to pick up your included Box Lunch breakfasts from the Hotel, as appropriate).

OPTION 1: LAKE LLANGANUCO + YUNGAY HOLY GROUND.

10:30: Visit to the City of Carhuaz and its Main Square, where you can do a tasting of their artisanal ice creams. The route will continue towards the Yungay Holy Ground.
11:30: Arrival at the Yungay Holy Ground, an open-air sanctuary and museum that functions as a powerful memorial. Departure towards the Llanganuco Gorge.
13:00: Visit to the Llanganuco Gorge to appreciate Lake Chinancocha, characterized by its turquoise color. Horseback riding or taking a boat ride is optional (not included).
14:50: Return to Yungay for lunch (not included).
15:00: Stop in the town of Taricá where we will appreciate the making of clay crafts (do not forget cash to purchase souvenirs).
15:30: Return to the city of Huaraz.
19:00: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations, and free evening for the overnight stay.

OPTION 2: LAKE 69 + LAKE LLANGANUCO.

05:00: Pick up passengers to start the Full Day. Do not forget to bring a snack (Box lunch, not included) for lunch, as there will be no stop at any restaurant for it.
07:40: Arrival in the city of Yungay where you will have time to eat your box lunch breakfast (included).
08:30: Entrance to the Huascarán National Park. Visit to the Llanganuco Gorge and Lake Chinancocha, where you will have free time to capture photographs, and then continue the trip, finally passing by Lake Horconcocha.
09:00: Arrival at Cebollapampa (base camp and starting point of the trekking) and start of the ascent to Lake 69.
12:00: Arrival at Lake 69, free time to admire the landscape and consume your box lunch lunch (not included).
13:00: Start of the descent and return to the transport waiting for you in Cebollapampa, free time to wait for all the participants of the group.
14:00: Departure from Cebollapampa to return to Huaraz.
18:30: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your accommodations, and free evening for the overnight stay.

Day 6FULL DAY TO ROCOTUYOC LAKE AND ITS FROZEN LAKE.

07:00: Breakfast at the Hotel.
08:30: Pickup of passengers to start the Full Day.
09:30: Our first stop will be in the town of Marcará to coordinate lunch reservations (not included).
10:00: Continuing along the route, we will take the detour toward the Paqcharuri Gorge.
11:00: Brief stop to admire the Paqcharuri Waterfall and its extensive native vegetation forest. The route will continue toward Rocotuyoc Lake.
12:00: Entrance to Huascarán National Park and visit to Rocotuyoc Lake.
13:00: After a 30 to 45-minute trek, we will arrive at Frozen Lake. During the journey, you will be able to appreciate the snow-capped peaks of Paccharaju, Vallunaraju, and Copa.
15:30: Departure toward the town of Marcará for lunch.
16:30: Return to the city of Huaraz.
18:30: Arrival in the city of Huaraz, transfer to your lodgings, and free night for overnight stay.

What is the best time of year to visit Ancash?

We recommend visiting the city of Anacash between April and September, as these are the months when the weather is clearest, allowing you to enjoy trekking and hiking activities more comfortably and safely.

What important details should I know about this package?

The tours are offered as a private service, meaning both the transportation capacity and the guiding service are solely and exclusively for the passengers who book this package, with the exception of the following tours detailed below:

How long in advance can I make a reservation?
