To detail
On this 4-day and 3-night package, you will start the first day with a walking City Tour through the historic heart of Huaraz, where you will discover the Main Square and the impressive richness of the Ancash Archaeological Museum “Augusto Soriano Infante,” home to one of the largest collections of monoliths in the Americas. The tour will continue through the cultural Pastorita Huaracina Boulevard, in tribute to the remembered Ancash singer-songwriter María Alvarado Trujillo, then heading toward the sanctuary of the Lord of Solitude to meet the patron saint of the city, before taking a tour of the historic José Olaya Street, the only street that survived the 1970 earthquake caused by the avalanche from the snow-capped Mount Huascarán. Finally, you will visit the Rataquenua Viewpoint to contemplate the city at the foot of the snow-capped peaks.

The second day we will begin the activities with a Full Day to the Chavin de Huantar archaeological complex, where you will cross the picturesque towns of Recuay, Ticapampa, and Catac, to then enter the Cordillera Blanca, making a stop at the mystical Querococha Lake at 3,900 meters (12,795 feet) of altitude. After resuming the route and crossing the impressive Cahuish tunnel at 4,516 meters (14,816 feet) of altitude, you will descend along a winding road toward the Callejón de Conchucos to reach the town of Chavín, where you will take a guided tour of the Chavin de Huantar Archaeological Complex, a pre-Inca religious and cultural center, exploring its Square Plaza, Circular Plaza, El Castillo, its underground labyrinths, and the famous Lanzón Monolítico. Upon finishing, you will have free time to wander through its traditional streets and visit the Chavin National Museum.

On the third day, remember that you can choose between two of our outdoor options, both will take you north of the Callejón de Huaylas, from where you will contemplate the imposing silhouette of the snow-capped Mount Huascarán, having the opportunity to stop in the city of Carhuaz to try its artisanal ice cream. Following this, you will enter Huascaran National Park, where you will find Chinancocha Lake in the spectacular Llanganuco gorge; here you can take a boat ride or go horseback riding (the rental can be coordinated directly with the local community members). It is here where the route will split into Option 1: with a visit to the Yungay Campo Santo (the city buried in 1970 by the landslide from the snow-capped Mount Huascarán) + a clay workshop in the picturesque town of Taricá; in case of choosing Option 2: you will have a demanding three-hour trekking toward the spectacular Lake 69, a dazzling bright blue water mirror at 4,650 meters (15,256 feet) of altitude surrounded by the snow-capped peaks Chacraraju and Pisco.
