To detail

We will begin the itinerary with a city tour of historic Chachapoyas, including essential stops at its two most spectacular viewpoints: the Sonche Canyon Viewpoint, where you can admire a colossal geological rift between the mountains, and the Huanca Urco Viewpoint, the perfect spot to enjoy an awe-inspiring panoramic view of the surrounding rivers and valleys; the afternoon will be left free for you to rest and properly acclimatize.

On Day 2, we will travel to the majestic fortified citadel of Kuélap for a full-day excursion to discover the region’s flagship monument. You will be struck by its imposing stone perimeter walls that blend seamlessly into the natural landscape; we will return in the late afternoon or early evening to spend the night in the city.

On the third day, you will explore the destination’s archaeological and subterranean mysteries on a dual excursion that first takes you to the Karajía Sarcophagi, where you can view monumental pre-Inca burial capsules perched atop a cliff. The tour then continues into the Quiocta Cavern—a deep cave renowned for its fascinating geological formations of stalagmites and stalactites—before concluding with a return to the city of Chachapoyas at nightfall.

On the fourth day, the trip shifts focus entirely to the natural world with a guided hike to the magnificent Gocta Waterfall. Here, amidst a dense forest, you can admire one of the world’s tallest waterfalls (ranking fifth globally). This journey offers the perfect opportunity to escape the noise, appreciate the lush green landscapes, spot the exotic marvelous spatuletail hummingbird, and connect with the local ecosystem.

On Day 5, you will discover the mysticism of the Mausoleums of Revash and Leymebamba. The excursion begins with an uphill hike to a viewpoint overlooking these hanging tombs, where a guided explanation at the cliffside reveals the mysteries of this pre-Hispanic society. Afterward, you will travel to the town of Leymebamba for a guided tour of its famous museum, where you will view the recovered mummies and ancient artifacts.

Finally, Day 6 begins with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, leaving the morning free for you to explore the town’s attractions, snap some final photos, and shop for local handicrafts before we meet for your transfer to the airport. By choosing this 6-day program, you ensure a truly comprehensive experience that perfectly blends history, nature, and adventure. Your Chachapoyas adventure starts right now!

Therefore, don’t forget to bring a jacket to keep warm and/or a plastic poncho to avoid getting wet.
