Arequipa – Campiñas Tour in Arequipa

This tour, known as the Campiña Arequipeña, includes visits to the most beautiful architectural monuments and natural viewpoints surrounding the white city.

To begin this tour, we will meet at the entrance to the Arequipa Cathedral and head toward the first stop of this activity: the Yanahuara District. We will take photos at the famous Yanahuara Portals with the Misti Volcano in the background. We will also see the church of this traditional district. This place sells the traditional frozen cheese, a typical Arequipa dessert; its unique flavor is a must-try.

We will then head to the Carmen Alto Viewpoint, where we will be able to appreciate the district’s terraces and also the three most important volcanoes in the city of Arequipa: Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu.

We will continue our tour to the Incalpaca Mini Zoo. Admission is free, and we will be able to see four of the most important South American camelids in this region (llama, alpaca, vicuña, and guanaco).

We will also visit the Founder’s Mansion, a colonial mansion now converted into a museum that houses important relics from the history of Arequipa.

Towards the end of our tour, we will go to the Sabandia Mill, which houses a working water mill and a mini zoo that also houses a fighting bull called “Terminator”. The belief is that rubbing its back will bring you luck. Admission is optional, and if you wish to stay outside, you can find optional activities such as horseback riding, ATV rides, zip lines, and tasting typical Arequipa food.

Finally, we will return to the center of Arequipa, arriving in approximately 1 hour. The tour concludes by dropping off passengers very close to the Plaza de Armas.
