Lima, the historic capital of Peru, better known as the City of Kings, was the seat of the Viceroyalty and the main administrative center of the Spanish colonies in South America in the 16th century.
In this region, you will find architectural gems such as museums, Renaissance and Baroque churches, mansions, and palaces that have endured to this day. The Historic Center of Lima has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1988, so we assure you that this visit will surely delight you. For this experience, we have scheduled a City Tour that you can take either in the morning or afternoon (depending on your arrival time in Lima).
Continuing with our itinerary, on day 2, we will visit the region of Ica, where we will explore the marvelous attractions of Paracas and Ica, including its enigmatic Candelabro geoglyph, located within the Paracas National Reserve, as well as Huacachina, also known as the Oasis of America. For our full-day tour, we’ll depart from Lima very early in the morning, heading south. After a 3 hour drive, we’ll arrive at our first destination: El Chaco, the embarkation point for the Ballestas Islands. We’ll enjoy a 2 hour boat trip out to sea, visiting the beautiful islands and observing sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and many other species.
Next, we’ll depart for Ica, located approximately an hour away. Here, we’ll arrive at the Culturpisco Tourist Restaurant, where we’ll have lunch. Their menu features typical dishes from the region, which we assure you shouldn’t miss. You’ll also find all kinds of Ica’s emblematic sweets, such as the famous Tejas, made with manjar blanco (a type of milk caramel) and dulce de leche, among many others.
Continuing our tour, we’ll head to Hacienda La Caravedo, known as the oldest operating distillery in the Americas. Here, we’ll enjoy a Pisco tasting while immersing ourselves in the history of our national drink. Finally, we’ll end the day by heading to the Huacachina Oasis, located just 5 kilometers from the city of Ica. From here, you can admire its enormous dunes and sand dunes, which we’ll explore in dune buggies. We’ll go sandboarding while enjoying the sunset. We’ll arrive back in Lima in the evening.
Here you have the option to choose how you would like to end your DAY 3 itinerary:

Definitely one of the most important things to do before traveling to Peru for the first time is to check the weather forecast for each destination. Peru has a wide variety of climates, so you can expect sunny days, foggy days, or even rainy days, so it’s important to be prepared for anything. Don’t forget to check the weather forecast for your travel dates.
-For your day in Lima the capital, we also suggest checking the season at the time of your visit, as the city experiences all four seasons.
-For your day in Ica, we recommend bringing a windbreaker for destinations like Paracas, since the boats are open-air. The region enjoys a privileged climate, so you can expect sunshine year-round. If you’re traveling with children, remember that to take the buggy tour (Huacachina Desert), they must be accompanied by an adult. This tour is not recommended for pregnant women.
-For your time in Cusco, we suggest checking the weather forecast during your stay, as Cusco can be very cold or very sunny during the day. Secondly, we definitely recommend trying to do some less strenuous activities on your first day to acclimatize and get used to the altitude, if you aren’t already. We advise you to drink coca tea, drink plenty of fluids, and eat as lightly as possible (digestion here tends to be a bit slower than usual).
-For your day in Puno, we recommend bringing a windbreaker for your tour to the Uros Islands, and warm clothing, as this region is known for its cold and semi-dry climate.
-For your stay in Arequipa, although it can be visited year-round, we suggest checking the weather forecast during your stay to avoid the possibility of rain. The best time to travel is between April and October.
