The starting point towards the Lagoon will be the city of Cusco, heading towards the town of Soraypampa (3900 meters above sea level) from here you can also appreciate one of the highest snow-capped mountains in the Cusco Region: The Salkantay snowy (6271 meters of altitude), as this route is the same one used by sport climbers to reach it.
Once prepared and a little more acclimatized, the walk to the Lagoon will begin along a high Andean path, the walk may last between 40 to 80 minutes, depending on the physical condition and pace of the group.
During the tour you will find: cultivation areas, multicolored landscapes, llamas, alpacas, sheep, vicuñas, all perfectly harmonized with the characteristic flora of this area: the ichus and the bofedales (high-altitude wetlands).
The best time to visit the Humantay Lagoon are the months of May to November, the weather during this season is mainly sunny, so surely you can take very good pictures and walk calmly, since it is very unlikely that it will rain.
