The village of Cocahimba is a picturesque village in the Amazonas region of Peru, known as the main access point and base for visiting the majestic Gocta Waterfall, one of the tallest in the world.

Location: Cocachimba, Amazonas Department, Peru.
Distance from Lima to Jaén by plane: 1 hour and 25 minutes flight.
Distance from Jaén to Cocachimba by Van: 4 hours.
Maximum altitude in Cocachimba: 1800 meters (5905 feet).
IMPORTANT: Not suitable for people with mobility limitations.
Climate in Cocachimba: Maximum temperature during the day 21º C (69.8º F). Minimum temperature at night 14º C (57.2º F).
Low season: December to April (rainy season).
High season: May to November (Cocachimba Anniversary: October 18).

Day 1ARRIVAL AT GOCTA LODGE AND OVERNIGHT STAY

06:30: Arrival at Jaén Airport, Cajamarca, and transfer to the hotel (recommended time).
10:30: Arrival at the hotel, where you will have free time to enjoy its facilities.
15:00: Check-in at the hotel and free afternoon.
20:00: Dinner at the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 2FULL DAY TOUR TO THE FORTIFIED CITADEL OF KUELAP WITH CABLE CAR

07:30: Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
08:30: Pick-up from the hotel to the town of Nuevo Tingo (departure point for the cable car to Kuélap).
09:30: Arrival at the Kuélap cable cars and boarding for the Fortress.
10:00: Start of the hike at the Kuélap Fortress.
13:00: Descent by cable car.
13:30: Return to Nuevo Tingo, lunch, and free time.
16:00: Return to the hotel. Free afternoon.
20:00: Dinner at the hotel.

Day 3TOUR TO GOCTA FALLS AND RETURN TO JAEN

06:30: Buffet breakfast at the hotel.
07:00: Start of the hike to Gocta Falls from Andes Lodge. Return to the hotel.
12:30: Lunch at the hotel.
13:30: Check-out and private transfer from the hotel to Jaén Airport (recommended time).

What recommendations would you give us if it's our first time traveling to Cocachimba?

We recommend checking the weather forecast, as it’s very changeable here. Especially during the rainy season (between November and May), when temperatures can drop as low as 9°C, so don’t forget to always bring a jacket to keep warm and/or a plastic poncho to avoid getting wet.

If you have day trips planned, we recommend bringing a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen to protect your skin, as the sun can be very strong at midday. It’s also important to have insect repellent on hand.

What important details should I know about this package?

The tours in this package are offered in small groups. The maximum capacity is 10 people per group, and the guided tour is exclusively for the passengers who book these programs. The exception is the Jaén Airport/Hotel/Jaén Airport transfers, which will be offered as a private service. Please also consider the following details about the hotel:

GOCTA LODGE:

– Prices are per person based on double or triple occupancy. This includes transfers, accommodation, meals, the excursions described, and service taxes.

– For single occupancy (single room), this program has a supplement of S/300 per night (subject to availability).

– Tours and explanations are in Spanish. Please inquire about availability and prices in other languages.

– Tours and excursions are subject to rescheduling or cancellation due to external factors beyond the company’s control, such as weather conditions, road closures, etc.

– Check-in: 3:00 PM / Check-out: 1:00 PM These schedules are independent of your flight schedules.

How far in advance can I make a reservation?

Book at least 15 days before your scheduled travel date and/or subject to availability. If you are from a neighboring country or anywhere else in the world, we recommend booking at least 20 days in advance, or 2 months if your arrival date falls during peak season in Chachapoyas.

Do I have to carry an identity document during the tours?

Yes, it is essential that all participants carry a valid ID, Immigration Card or Passport during all the tours included in the package.
