Marcahuasi is one of the most famous places in the Lima mountains, it is located at 4,000 thousand meters of altitude and is formed by a chain of volcanic mountains. Mostly known for being a place that emits good energy, some indicate that in its starry sky at night, you will be able to appreciate more than stars. You will also find rocks with very curious shapes, such as: seals, lion, toad and “The Monument to Humanity”, a huge granite mass that resembles the face of a human, and that changes profiles depending on the angle from which see it.

Camping on this site will be a phenomenal experience! Just remember to bundle up very well at night as temperatures tend to drop a lot.

  • Location: San Pedro de Casta, Province of Huarochirí, Department of Lima.
  • Distance from Lima to Marcahuasi: 5 hours approx.
  • Maximum height in Marcahuasi: 4,000 meters of altitude.
  • IMPORTANT: Preferably not be sedentary people and have good acclimatization to the altitude.

Itinerary

Day 1ARRIVAL TO MARCAHUASI AND CAMP

  • 05:30: Meeting at Departure Point II La Rambla San Borja.
  • 05:45: Depart for San Pedro de Casta.
  • 11:00: Arrival at the Town of San Pedro de Casta and free time to buy final supplies (water, sunscreen, a snack for the road, etc.) before starting the Trekking to Marcahuasi.
  • 12:00: Lunch in San Pedro de Casta.
  • 13:00: Start of the Hiking towards the Central Plateau of Marcahuasi.
  • 15:30: Arrival in the area known as “Portachuelo”. Location of the camp and set up of tents.
  • 16:30: Free time to rest and acclimatize.
  • 17:00: Trekking to “The Amphitheater” where we will get to take photos of the sunset and the setting sun.
  • 18:30: Setting up the Bonfire and group activities.
  • 20:00: Free night to rest.

Day 2HIKING THROUGH MARCAHUASI AND RETURN TO LIMA

  • 06:00: We woke up to have breakfast and disarmed the Camp.
  • 07:05: Start of hiking through the Archaeological Complex (tour to the Cachu Cachu lagoon and Monument of Humanity). Along the way we will stop to take the best photos.
  • 11:00: Return walk to San Pedro de Casta and lunch.
  • 12:30: Arrival at the town of San Pedro de Casta and lunch.
  • 14:00: Return to Lima (arrival in Lima approximately 20:30).

What other requirements must I meet to be part of this outing?

-We recommend having a minimum age of 14 years and a maximum age of 65 years to be able to do this Camping.

About the Van you should know:
